Medical Surgical Nursing

The Medical Surgical Nursing Department provides students with specialized knowledge and clinical competencies in caring of adult patients including geriatrics encompassing various medical and surgical conditions, diagnostic procedures, and treatment modalities. In addition to classroom instruction, students gain insights into modern surgical procedures through hands-on experience at lab and the teaching hospital. They also learn to operate sophisticated equipment like ventilators and defibrillators. It trains the students to independently perform activities in promotion of health, prevention of illness, care the ill, disabled and dying people.The students are prepared to provide quality nursing care incorporating the principles of safety, communication, teamwork, collaboration and evidence based practice to patients across life span

Pediatric Nursing

The Paediatric (Child Health) Nursing Department strives to impart knowledge and skills required to respond to health care needs of infants, children and adolescents through evidence based practice and safeguarding the health and rights of children. The department facilitates students; to address the unique physical, emotional and developmental needs of young patients, to develop proficiency in identification, prevention and nursing management of health problems and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to formulate comprehensive care plans and to educate parents on child health including developmental milestones, nutrition and safety. The college has a well-equipped Child Health Nursing Lab that provides students with hands-on experience in various pediatric procedures with paediatric manikins that replicate a range of scenarios and health issues.

Psychiatric Nursing

The Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing department is committed in training students to provide comprehensive care to individuals, families, groups, and communities in the aspect of mental health and mental illness.It uses theories of human behavior as its scientific framework and requires the use of the self as its art or expression in nursing practice.They equip young nurses to form therapeutic relationships with individuals across the lifespan and train the student to transform lives in a positive way. It will help the students to appreciate the client as a holistic individual and develop skills to continuously intervene and rehabilitate patients with psychiatric problems and their families.

Community Health Nursing

The community health nursing department focuses on promoting and protecting the health of individuals, families, and communities. It aims at training students to work in partnership with local communities, work to prevent illness and promote health by identifying barriers to healthy lifestyles and general wellness. It is concerned in training students in the areas of family assessment and community assessment to identify health problems of people living in the community. Students are also trained to give health education with emphasis on primary prevention, demonstrate various diet plans based on felt need of family, performing diagnostic techniques by using community bag to screen common communicable and non communicable diseases. Department observes all National Health days by organizing rallies, role plays, Immunization Services.

Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing

Obstetrics & Gynaecological nursing department is directed towards teaching studentsin order to provide comprehensive & holistic Nursing careto women during pregnancy, childbirth and post partum period. To have healthy children, it is important to promote the health of the childbearing women and their families from the time before child birth. Prenatal care and guidance is essential to the health of women, the fetus and to the emotional preparation of the family for childrearing. Prompt and efficient care helps to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity. The students undergoing training in this specialty will be able to acquire overall skill to function as midwives focusing evidence based practice both in the Hospital and Community.
